About me
I was born in Brasil and have lived, worked and explored the vast reaches of this incredible land for much of my life. Traveling has always been in my blood and when I finished my formal education in telecommunication and electrical engineering, I began a long, fulfilling and successful career in the technology industry as an executive for IBM. As it turned out, my work as well as vacation has taken me to many interesting places throughout the world.
In 2010 I decided to take a sabbatical to enjoy life of a different flavor, focusing my interest on photography and scuba diving. After 3 years, the corporate life did not appeal to me any longer. The wilderness was my new calling.
Photography has always attracted me, but not until I became a scuba diver had the spark truly ignited. My interest in underwater photography began to inspire me in new ways. The first dive experience for me was in 1996 when I was on vacation in the Caribbean. Shortly after I found myself diving all over the world. I was fascinated with that new and strange colorful world and wanted to share it with others who did not have the same opportunity to be underwater. The first images I took were much later and taken in the Galapagos Islands with a point and shoot camera. Today, they look amateuristic, but that became the turning point for me. Since then I have become enamored with nature photography as a craft and as an art form.
It is gratifying to see my work utilized in so many diverse ways; from top nature magazines to swimsuits, exhibits in important museums of natural history , children's books, movie brochures, and commissions that hang on the walls in homes and offices.
More than anything, the joy it brings to be able to share with everyone the wonders and beauties of this fragile universe and to allow my artwork to speak to so many people toward a greater understand and importance of conservation.
I live in San Francisco bay area, amidst the beautiful California's landscape with my husband Clark, and our Australian cattle dogs, Ella and Chase. My travels continue to carry me to many new, hard to reach exotic locations around the world, attempting to capture the timeless beauty and to bring to you these special images.
The knowledge acquired on my personal trips have lead me to become an expedition leader. I take small individual groups to special places on private trips and also partner with Wildlife Observations Worldwide offering custom nature trips all over the world.
I hope you will feel a similar passion of my photographic discoveries as I do, and take away with you some of the magic that has inspired the collection of my photography journey.
